Knees and Other Nurturing Touch A Bible Study by David Hertzler |

When the Bible speaks of tender, loving contact between parents and children, it often mentions knees. Why are a parent’s knees so comforting to a child? Genesis 48:1012. When Israel kissed and embraced his grandsons, where did he hold them (see verse 12)? Genesis 50:2223. Where were Joseph’s grandchildren placed? This not only helped them bond with their grandfather. It also was a sign that they belonged to him. 2 Kings 4:20. When her son was not feeling well, how did his mother comfort him? Job 3:12. When a new baby was born, there were _________________ to receive and hold him. Isaiah 66:1213. A mother comforts her child by dandling (playing with) him on her _________________. The knees are part of what we call the “lap” today. Think of ways that you can make your lap more inviting to your child. Include: ·Comforting ·Protecting ·Playing or pleasuring ·Bonding or belonging Also, don’t forget the power of knees bent in prayer for your child.
