Music that Pleases God A Bible Study by David Hertzler |
|
Read each verse. Write the answer to each question in the Answer Box beside the matching number, with one letter in each blank. When you are finished, the letters in the long blanks will spell the best thing that we can use music for. 1 Samuel 16:23 David’s musical instrument made melody, not chords or rhythm. His music helped King Saul’s mind and body feel better and chased the evil spirit away. Philippians 4:8 Music sticks in our minds. God has told us what He wants us to put into our minds. God cared so much about our music that He gave us a hymn book with 150 songs. It is the eighteenth book of the Bible. Colossians 2:8 Music can fill our minds with other people’s ideas. Sometimes these ideas are good. But often they are empty, boastful or big-sounding. These worldly ideas trap us in ways of life that are not good. Amos 5:23 People who do not love God can make music that sounds beautiful to our ears. But it may sound quite different to God. Ephesians 5:19 When Jesus lives in us, He makes us want to sing.
