Strong Men Who Weep
A Bible Study by David Hertzler

The ancient Hebrews, though they were a strong and proud people, knew how to express their emotions through weeping. For each scripture below, write:

  • (a) the name of the weeping man and
  • (b) the reason why he was weeping.

Long-separated brothers, Genesis 33:1-4

A bereaved father, Genesis 37:32-35

A ruler of Egypt, Genesis 45:1-2

A bereaved son, Genesis 49:33-50:1

A king of Israel, 2 Samuel 18:33

A repentant king, 2 Kings 22:18-19

The elders of Israel, Ezra 3:12

A high-ranking official of Persia, Nehemiah 1:1-4

A remorseful apostle, Matthew 26:75

The Creator of the universe, Luke 19:41-44
