Pain - God will meet us in our pain. Without God, our response to pain and trauma is often bitterness and a desire for revenge. Jesus Christ, the Son of God, died and lives to give us courage to face our pain as we talk and pray with others. Shame - Feelings of shame may come form unfulfilled longings or hurt. Shame can keep us form being all God intended us to be. God invites us to bring our shame to the cross and find freedom to be in relationship with Him and others. Forgiveness and Repentance - Disappointment, neglect, and insults are part of life. Our natural response is to protect and distance ourselves form others so it will never happen again. Repentance (of our wrong responses) and forgiveness (of those who have disappointed, neglected, insulted) bring freedom to be the men and women God intends us to be in relationship to others.
