Custom Adoption

Aboriginal people often give their children away, "in the custom of the people", to other parents to raise, bypassing government agencies.
This sometimes benefits the child. Other times it results in hardship when the child grows up feeling like an outcast or a slave.
It is time for a review of this practice, says author and family counsellor Jim Minor. He give some suggestions which he hopes will make the adoptive process more effective.
