What does the name NYM stand for?
NYM stands for Northern Youth Ministries. When the primary emphasis of this ministry shifted from youth to fathers and families, the name also changed.

Does NYM Ministries focus on a particular group of people?
Yes. Our primary calling is to the First Nations people of northern Canada, and then to other people groups as we have opportunity and time. NYM teachers have taught workshops and seminars in more than 200 communities across North America.

Is NYM Ministries a Christian ministry?
Yes. See our Statement of Faith.

Is NYM Ministries a charitable organization?
Yes. Our staff and free literature distribution are fully supported by donors who have an interest in this ministry. Tax receipts are issued for all donations over $5.00. Family life resources are sold for a small profit, which is then invested in the development of new resources.

How, why and when was NYM Ministries started?
NYM Ministries began in northwestern Ontario in the mid-1960's as Clair and Clara Schnupp dealt with questions their Native Canadian students were asking about marriage and family life. With the help of pastors, parents and youth they developed the sets of biblical teaching materials that have become the core of NYM Ministries teaching outreach. The ministry has grown to include regular mailings to 25 countries and a special focus on family needs in India and the Canadian Arctic.

Can I join the NYM Ministries team?
Staff openings come up very infrequently, and there is a rigorous application process. However, you are invited to partner with us in prayer and financial support or to submit articles, stories or artwork for our publications.

Could I bring an NYM workshop or seminar to my community?
It's possible, especially if you are in North America. This website will give you an ideas of some of the workshop topics, dates and locations available. E-mail your request and we will consider it.

May I stop in and tour your facility?
Certainly. We are about 10 Km north of the Trans-Canada highway where it passes through Dryden, Ontario. See our Contact page for more directions.

Statement of Faith
We believe in the inspiration and authority of the Bible as God's Word; in the triune Creator God; in the necessity of personal salvation made possible through the virgin birth, substitutionary death, burial and resurrection of the Lord Jesus; that God requires our lives to be separated unto Him; that the church is the body of Christ seen in local bodies of believers; in the call of Christ to carry His gospel into all the world; and in the personal and soon return of our Lord Jesus Christ.

We believe that strong families are necessary for strong churches and communities and that strengthening families is an essential component of evangelism and church building.
